Rule of 3: The Family’s Christmas Lists

I am excited about this year’s gifts on my family’s Christmas lists and the implementation of the rule of 3.

Shortly after having my first child, I received some valuable advice on tackling kid’s Christmas list: want, need, necessity.  Three gifts. That’s it! It can be so easy to get caught up in the “giving” season, overdo it, and blow the budget.

For most people I know, when the kids are young, the wants, needs, and necessities seem endless. I will speak for myself when I say the rule of 3 dangled out the window when they were both babies and toddlers.  In the earliest years, they are little and cute. All the stuff they need and want is little and cute. So yes! Add it ALL to the cart; My babies need it!!

My son is now 7 years old, and his Christmas list is not so little and cute anymore. He has his eyes set on the electronics, gaming devices, bucks and such (insert eye roll). Thus, this year I have adhered to that advice I first ignored, and the kids were put on notice. The lists they gave included everything from new coloring pencils to PS5, to a unicorn (my daughter is 4 years old, and her Christmas list is still cute and imaginative).

After checking the lists twice, these are three must have gifts on my family’s 2023 Christmas list.

Gold Initial Bracelet.  This 14K gold filled bracelet is able to be single letter monogramed. It is the perfect accessory for my little lady who had to have one after seeing mine. I wear my bracelet daily, including shower, and it has not turned.

Outdoor Patio Heater. A gift

for me! It has already been put to good use; I could not wait until Christmas to wheel it out. If you spend a lot of time outside, as I do, the weather is beginning to get frightful.  With this, I am able to enjoy my wind down, tea, and yoga comfortably, with the amount of heat this easy to assemble outdoor propane heater puts out.

PlayStation 5:  I remember getting my first gaming device, a Nintendo, when I was about 7, my son’s age. I was very hesitant on this purchase at first, but was convinced, especially after I thought of the fun and memories that were created when I was a child. He has been asking for a gaming device since he played on his cousin’s earlier this year. He is challenging me to play Sonic, talking all kinds of trash. (Insert eye roll).  Little does he know, I was into video games in my younger years, and I aim to teach him a thing or two. I cannot wait to collect more emeralds and rings than him in Sonic, and then whip him with my girl, Chun-Li, in Street Fighter. This is shaping up to be a family gift, both of ours; but we will let him keep it in his area.

Everyone has been working hard and has landed on the “nice” list. These are three gifts from our Christmas lists that I am sure my family will love and enjoy as we create memories together.

BTW: I am still on the hunt for a unicorn if anyone knows where I can find one for my little momma.
