So What’s Happening?

bridgerton flies and mosquitos

Dearest Gentle Reader,

It appears we have a most hellacious visitor amongst us.  It has not yet been a week since her official return, yet Summer has come in ablaze: breaking and setting record temperatures.

Although hot, it is not the heat that burdens me. Afterall, I am born and raised in Texas; I can handle the heat. It is the most unwanted of guests that accompany her. Not to mention her making me out to be a liar.

To this point, this author owes you an apology and I humbly beseech your forgiveness.  In a previous article, I urged you to plant flowers and herbs to combat the flies and mosquitos. Albeit, everything is blooming quite well and we have been relishing in the harvest. But combating pesky insects, has proven to be a much harder task. With the absence of a proper winter, all of the downpours we have experienced, and the fury of Summer, nothing seems to keep them at bay.

Thus, to enjoy my outside leisures and promenade, I have been forced to find comfort with fly bait, and  natural insect repellent. We will see if they are worthy adversaries for the remainder of the season.

watching bridgerton

Movies, reality, podcast, scripted shows.  With so much to choose, even the most incomparable woman can become intimidated and overwhelmed by the vast selection of programs to watch.

It is said that watching television helps one relax and escape from everyday worries. Since the summer break, and the chaos of shuffling two very active children around during the school year has slowed down immensely, I have had the opportunity to enjoy such illusions and fantasies.

I stumbled upon Counsel Culture when my buttocks accidentally dialed Prime (The TV rarely leaves Netflix and Youtube).

I unapologetically root for, and care deeply about the success of the black family. The success of the whole unit is predicated on the success of the individual parts.  To that sentiment, I love seeing the growing conversations centered around our mental health, accountability, and awareness.

Brought to us by Lord Nick Cannon (try not to miss the message on account of the messenger), this show takes a riveting look at the male/black male perspective and psychosis.  Dubbed a “safe space for men to be vulnerable,” this show gives the “opportunity to heal, counsel and coach one another.”

I have but dived into the first half of the episodes, and look forward to more insight.  One says, you are what you watch. This author is hopeful that with more and more programs and “entertainment” centered around topics of healing, we can move about Town in a more royal, intentional, godly manner.

Just the mention of the name Lady Shonda Rhimes should evoke television royalty. If you are not watching or at the very least heard of Bridgerton, what are we doing?

Surely those reading who are of the Ton recognized from the intro and tone of this very article, that I have been immersed in the Bridgerton affairs. Set during the Regency era of England, this Netflix series, executively produced by Lady Rhimes, is now in its third season.

I have completed the season, but will not spoil the latest on dit. What I am at liberty to say is that Season 3 shows what happens when a wallflower steps out of the shadows and into the sun.

While some relationships are mended others are jeopardized. This season answers the questions: Who will find their place in power and status amongst the Ton. Who will find love? Who will find lust? Can one be both lovers and friends? What will come of Colin and Penelope’s relationship? Will the true identity and future of Lady Whistledown be jeopardized? If found out, what will Queen Charlotte and the Ton think of these most scandalous revelations?

Get caught up and stream all 3 seasons, as I for one, wait patiently in anticipation of season 4’s romances and gossips of the Ton.

bridgerton yellow belt

A competitor finds it hard to find themself merely a spectator.

I began my Taekwondo journey after Master Ram most graciously extended an invitation to all mothers. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention my children, cousin, and aunt had been encouraging me to join them on the mat, prior to this occasion.

Despite a most damaging vehicular collision that has caused great anguish, I have not cowered to its lingering effects.  I do what I can, although there are limitations.

This perseverance lead to my first martial arts belt testing this past Saturday. An achievement I had not seen in my future, but now desire more of. For this author can now add yellow belt Taekwondo student to her most illustrious resume.

Please believe me when I say that I am profoundly sorry for my errs. Be that as it may, do continue to plant seeds that are worthy to be harvested. Indulge in innocent fancies, and let us never limit ourselves. And as for me, I shall endeavor henceforth to prove myself more deserving of your regard.

Yours most sincerely and devotedly,

Lady AD

BTW: We find ourselves in Cancer territory, marking the 43rd anniversary of my birth come Monday!! ‘Tis our season Cancers and a cause for celebration!!
