Father’s Day just passed, and this year, somewhere between pit stops, packing cubes, and a broken RV fridge, I’ve been sitting with a quiet truth: I’m more old school than I once thought.
I believe in softness. In nurturing. In presence. The power of a woman. But I also believe in the importance of positive male role models. A real one. A steady one. A strong one who leads with love and isn’t afraid to set the tone in the home.
I’m not into “pick me” culture. I’m into truth. And the truth is—I value the men in my life who have shown up with open hearts and firm hands. The men who have evolved, and continue to evolve into the best versions of themselves. I’m seeing it in the kid’s dad. I see it in Uncle Carl. I saw it in the short time I had with my own Father, and in my Pops.
My children get to witness what it means to be a positive male role model—to be strong and loving, to correct with care, to protect without pride. That matters. Especially now.

As we have made our way back to Texas—albeit a bit disappointed— to get this RV fridge fixed, I’m reminded that detours are part of the journey. And I’m thankful for the positive male role models who help carry the load when the road gets long.
Let’s build the kind of village where love and discipline can exist in the same home.
BTW: “The child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth.” – African Proverb
Let’s love on the positive male role models in our lives. Drop a comment about them here and on our social media pages.
