I love a good summer concert. Last week was hot and Breezy as I attended my first concert of the summer season, 11:11 Tour, and it was sensational!
The concert arena appeared to be at capacity as loyal fans blew in to sing and dance the night away…and did!
Go Girlfriend
My cousin (and partner concertgoer) and I, had been anticipating this night for months. Afterall, it had been almost a year since our last concert. This would be our first time seeing Breezy in concert and we knew we were in for a great show. Besides, Chris Brown has made a name for himself as one of the best performers/entertainers of the present day.
We had taken our naps (don’t judge us, we are both over the age of 40), stretched, hydrated, and was fully prepared and ready to go crazy well past our bedtime, cutting up with the youngins. Given the difficult past couple weeks I had had, this would be a much welcomed fun night out, full of healing energy.
After grabbing a bite to eat, as we always do, we headed for the venue with plenty of time to spare to come together with our other cousins who were also there. We grabbed a drink, freshened up, and caught our breath for a very special evening ahead.
Summer Too Hot
The opening acts (Maeta and Muni long) got the party started, while DJ Fresh built the energy until the lights went low (and in between each act). I was on my feet from the time the count down on the LED screen hit 0. To the flash of light, and Breezy appeared on stage. He gave us the Chris Brown choreography we want and love. I stood from the time he sang the first song, Angel Numbers. Danced through all 4 acts (Fire, Water, Air, and Earth). And was still on my feet after the last song, Grass Ain’t Greener, and the lights came all the way up at 11:11pm (it’s the detail and timing for me).
Breezy kept us under the influence for well over 2 hours. Chris was singing (the mic was hot), dancing (the best since Michael, not up for debate), engaging, soaring, and flipping through the air. Brown gave us a taste of well over 40 songs from his discography including some of my favorites: Heated, Strip, No Air, No Guidance, and Yo (Excuse Me Miss).
A highlight of the concert for me was when Chris wanted to play a game. He used a random song selector to decide the next few songs. Although one of my all time favorites, Poppin’, was not generated, he kept me, and the crowded intoxicated, and feeling something through this playful segment.
Take You Down
The residual energy from the concert lingered in the air. It kept everyone buzzing with excitement after the last song ended, and well into the parking lot.
I have yet to attend a concert and leave disappointed, and this was no exception. Chris Brown gave me all my money’s worth. After the concert, the lasting exhilaration made it hard to fall back to sleep despite the late hour. (I am still recovering).
We will be back at it again, tomorrow for our next concert of the summer. Janet, Ms. Jackson if you nasty, takes control of the stage. I can hardly wait!
