The soccer fall season is in full swing, and my U9 boys (and myself) are learning the ropes of the 2-3-1 formation.
We’ve moved from the kiddie field to the big boy field, and it’s a learning curve for everyone—especially for this relatively new soccer coach. The boys are starting to see how much endurance and strength matter, as we are one of the youngest teams in our division.
As we build our foundation for this season, I’m seeing more teamwork, grit, and growth from my guys every week. Coaching teaches me as much as it does them, and watching their progress shows me that building something strong takes time, patience, and heart.
Any other soccer moms (or coaches) out there balancing the fall craziness?
This fall season started off with me in a bad way.
Last week, I was awakened in the early hours of the morning with nausea, an upset stomach, and weakness that left me bed bound for a day and a half.
I’m just now getting back to feeling like myself. In moments like these, I’m reminded of how blessed I am. My family prepared the most thoughtful love trays for me—complete with a note from my son to lift my spirits and my favorite tea to help me recover. It’s the smallest gestures that bring the greatest comfort.
For anyone in recovery, remember to accept the love and care sent your way. It truly makes a difference!
How do you take care of yourself when you’re not feeling your best?
Y’all know I have fallen in love with a good Netflix and truly chill.
When I wasn’t sleeping through my recovery, I escaped into Netflix’s limited series The Perfect Couple. It’s a gripping “whodunit” starring Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, and Michael Beach, and it had me guessing until the very end. I pinned it on everyone over the course of those six episodes!
This family is something else! If you love a mystery packed with high-society drama, secrets, and unraveling truths, I highly recommend this one. Can you guess who did it? And if you have any binge-worthy fall recommendations, send them my way in case I find more time to chill!
What’s everyone else watching lately?
With the historical presidential election coming up, I want to take a moment to remind everyone of the importance of voting.
As my grandmother says, “I have never been nothing but black a day of my life.” At 43, I know and have seen what it’s like to have people assume you didn’t earn your way to where you are. To have your accomplishments dismissed simply because of the color of your skin and the gender you were divinely assigned.
These aren’t stories I’ve heard—this is my reality. This election goes beyond political lines. It’s about our freedom—mine and, more importantly, my daughter’s.
Early voting is a powerful way to ensure your voice is heard without the rush of Election Day. This election is monumental, and we’re making history. On one side, there’s Trump and his “concept of a plan”—which, let’s be honest, I’m sure doesn’t include people who look like me. On the other, we have Kamala Harris— a woman of color with a chance to take the highest office.
I stand with her and what she represents: joy, decency, and hope for a better future. Let’s make sure we show up and vote for what’s right. Every vote matters, and together, we can make our voices heard for progress and decency.

I figured out the killer by the fifth episode. I will not mention. No spoilers here. We must vote. Our lives and our heirs lives depend on it. Kamala Harris needs us and we need her.
But had you gone through all the other suspects as well! Yes. Vote!
