Winter can be a busy season, especially for moms transitioning from holiday chaos to school routines.
With a little intention, however, it’s the perfect time to embrace wellness. Here are my favorite winter wellness routines for busy moms, that help me stay centered and healthy as the new year begins.
1. Return to Your Yoga Practice
After a hectic holiday schedule, and being on the road in very tight and chilly conditions not ideal for a yoga practice, my first yoga session(since Christmas day) was this past Saturday. It felt like a gift to my mind, body, and soul. Yoga can be as simple as a 10-minute flow to stretch and relax.
Try gentle poses like Child’s Pose or Cat-Cow to ease back into movement. It’s not about perfection, but about reconnecting with yourself.
2. Cozy Up with Healing Teas
My current favorite is Chai Rooibos, which I sometimes may or may not enhance with fresh lemon juice and a splash of Uncle Nearest—for medicinal hot toddy purposes of course. The chai spices warm your body and aid with reducing inflammation, while the rooibos is caffeine-free and packed with antioxidants. This tea is perfect for loosening congestion, aiding in bone health, digestion, or simply helping unwind.
3. Apple Cider Vinegar Detox
A ready-to-drink ACV detox is a simple way to reset post-holiday indulgence. Sip as directed to aid digestion and help cut back on sugar cravings.
4. Declutter and Make Space
The kids and I spent time clearing out old toys, clothes, and other items to make room for new blessings. This physical decluttering reflects the mental and emotional clearing we need to embrace what 2025 has to offer.
5. Mindfulness for the Busy Mom
Take five minutes each morning to set intentions for your day. This might look like journaling, deep breathing, or reciting a scripture like James 3:18: Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness. Starting the day with mindfulness keeps you grounded no matter how busy it gets.
6. Sugar Reset
After the holiday season, cutting back on sugar can feel like a monumental task, especially when your cousin comes in the house with a slew of delicious cakes, pies, and breads as you are vowing off sugar. Don’t let the devil use you.
But seriously, start small by swapping desserts for fresh fruit or herbal teas. Your energy levels will thank you. And share those cakes, pies, and breads with someone not on a sugar reset mission.
7. Family Reminiscing and Visioning
On Sunday and Monday, we reflected on our recent RV adventure while preparing for the new semester. Carve out family time to reminisce about shared experiences and set goals together. It strengthens your bond and sets a positive tone for the year ahead.
Prioritizing simple winter wellness routines for busy moms can help you feel refreshed, re-centered, and ready to embrace the year ahead.
