We started the garden a little over a month ago, and it is coming along nicely.
The spinach, corn, mustard, and turnip greens are looking great. Not only are the herbs and flowers planted aesthetically pleasing, but they also repel flies and mosquitos. If only they would ward off the June bugs (you should see me fighting them). Mint and marigolds are my favorite. We are hoping the plum trees will produce more this year. That is, if the varmints don’t get to it first. Thumbs crossed the garden is able to keep thriving amidst the Texas heat.About a week ago Netflix suggested School of Chocolate.
I know I am a few years late (streamed in 2021) , but Gracie’s Corner and Paw Patrol have dominated my television in recent times. Not to mention, Netflix is a never ending hole of shows to watch. Looking for a show that pleased both the kids and me, this fit the bill: chocolate, competition, family friendly. What these chefs are able to do with chocolate and pastries is astounding; almost too good to eat.

Now in its 16th season, RuPaul’s Drag Race gives top tier entertainment, fun, and whimsy, in my opinion. The unmatched confidence, fashion design, runway, hair and makeup transformations, comedy, lip-sync, not to mention, the shade (fun)! A reminder to live life to the fullest, and “Don’t Fuck It Up!” Which queen will be crowned the winner in a few weeks. My coins are on Plane Jane.
Perhaps not everyone’s cup of tea, in which case, “sashay away!”
Speaking of Queens! (GAGGED)!
Unless you live on the moon, you know this past Friday, Beyonce delivered Cowboy Carter: a genre bending, bodacious, 27 track album, rooted in country. If you have not already listened….Really? What are you doing? (Know I am giving you side eye). But seriously, for those on the moon, here are five things you need to know about this AOTY:
- Yes! I have already listened to the album 50/11 times!
- Yes! The beautifully harmonized Beatles cover, “Blackbiird”, features 4 country rooted sistas (Tanner Adell, Tiera Kennedy, Brittney Spencer, and Reyna Roberts). It is both exultant and harrowing.
- Yes! ALL 27 tracks are my favorite song!
- Yes! We saddling up with “Dolly P” and having a talk with that, and every “hussy,” “Jolene”.
- Yes! Of course I’m from Texas, so I already have my boots, hat, and chaps laid out awaiting the Act II tour.
The beys are outside buzzing ALL spring!!

Ok! Unless you live under an anorthosite (but surely, you would know), you are aware of the upcoming eclipse. Those along a narrow path in North America, including my hometown of Dallas, will be witness to a total solar eclipse on Monday, April 8, 2024.
According to NASA, the last total solar eclipse in the North Texas area was in 1878, and after this year’s, Dallas will not be in the path of totality again until 2317. Make sure you stay up to the minute and do not miss this once in a lifetime event. Weather permitted (and it’s looking a little cloudy here. But we only need a few minutes), the entire contiguous United States will see the eclipse, either partial or total.
We are geeked! Although the totality is set to last just over 4 minutes (a long time in eclipse time), we are going to make a day of it. The event will occur around lunch time; perfect for a picnic under the dark sky. Be sure you have your solar glasses and do not be startled if you see some night creatures coming out. The dark sky may confuse them a bit.
